Taking a feverish child across Dubai costs an hour in traffic, exposes them to other infections in the waiting room, and usually ends in a rushed consultation.
Childhood illness rarely waits for clinic hours. Fever climbs at 2am, croup barks after midnight, and vomiting starts on a Friday evening when pediatric clinics have closed.
The journey makes a sick child worse. Strapping a toddler with a high temperature into a car seat, driving Sheikh Zayed Road at peak hour, then queuing turns a fifteen-minute examination into a three-hour ordeal. A pediatric waiting room also concentrates infection, so a child arriving with otitis media can leave carrying a stomach virus.
Dubai adds its own friction. Parents work fixed office hours, a nanny or grandparent is often the adult at home when symptoms appear, and newer residents have no registered pediatrician yet. So they default to a hospital emergency department for problems a doctor could resolve in the living room.
A home visit removes the journey, the queue, and the cross-infection. The doctor examines your child in their own room, which produces a calmer and more honest examination than a crowded clinic.
Fever is the most common reason parents request a pediatric home visit. The doctor measures temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate, and oxygen saturation, then examines for the source of infection. Bedside tests such as a strep throat swab or urine dipstick identify common childhood infections during the visit.
A doctor assesses babies in the first weeks of life for jaundice, weight gain, feeding difficulty, umbilical cord healing, and skin rash. Feeding guidance is given to the parent during the assessment. Ongoing postnatal nursing and lactation support is covered by our maternity and pediatric home care service.
Routine childhood immunization follows the UAE national schedule. The doctor reviews the vaccination record, identifies missed doses, administers the due vaccine, and updates the card. Catch-up vaccination is arranged for children who moved to Dubai mid-schedule.
Cough, cold, croup, bronchiolitis, sore throat, and asthma flare-ups are assessed with a stethoscope and pulse oximeter. The doctor distinguishes a self-limiting viral infection from a chest infection needing treatment and administers nebulization when clinically indicated.
Weight and height are plotted on a growth chart and compared against previous readings. The consultation addresses poor weight gain, fussy eating, reflux, constipation, and iron deficiency and produces practical dietary advice for the family.
Milestones in movement, speech, social interaction, and play are reviewed against age. The doctor discusses sleep, behavior, and school concerns and refers to a developmental specialist where further assessment is warranted.
Call a home visit pediatrician when your child is unwell but stable, alert, and drinking. Symptoms affecting breathing, consciousness, or hydration need emergency care instead.
A home visit suits a child who is alert and responsive, drinking and passing urine, and breathing comfortably at rest. Fever, cough, cold, ear pain, rash, vomiting, loose stools, and feeding difficulty are all assessed safely at home when your child looks this way.
Book sooner if a fever continues beyond three days, a cough persists beyond two weeks, vomiting or diarrhea lasts more than 24 hours, a rash is spreading, or a baby is feeding noticeably less than usual.
Call an ambulance immediately; do not book a home visit if your child struggles to breathe, will not wake properly, has a seizure, turns blue or mottled, has a rash that does not fade under pressure, has passed no urine for several hours, or is under three months old with a fever.

The doctor explains the diagnosis, starts treatment, and issues an e-prescription with medication delivered to your door. You receive dosing instructions, warning signs to watch for, and a referral letter if specialist or hospital care is needed.
Newborns signal illness through feeding and alertness, not obvious symptoms. Poor feeding, unusual sleepiness, jaundice, or fewer wet nappies warrant assessment. Any fever under three months needs emergency care, not a home visit.
Infants dehydrate quickly and cannot localize pain. Fever, vomiting, diarrhea, and breathing difficulty escalate faster at this age. Bronchiolitis and otitis media are common in the first year.
Nursery exposure brings frequent infections that alarm parents more than clinicians. Croup, hand-foot-and-mouth disease, and febrile illness are typical. A resistant toddler is far easier to examine at home than on a clinic couch.
School-age children describe their own symptoms, shifting the consultation toward tonsillitis, gastroenteritis, asthma flare-ups, and minor injuries. A home visit also produces the sick note a school requires.
Adolescents often want privacy. A home visit allows part of the consultation without a parent present where clinically appropriate, covering headaches, fatigue, skin conditions, and mood.
