Tooth discolouration comes from surface chromogens, thinning enamel, or internal dentin changes. Each type responds differently to bleaching, so diagnosis must precede treatment.
Chromogens cause most visible staining. These pigmented molecules bind to the pellicle layer on enamel, and tannins help them adhere. Plaque traps them against the tooth.
Aging darkens teeth differently. Enamel thins and reveals the naturally yellow dentin beneath, without any stain forming.
Intrinsic discoloration starts inside the tooth. Tetracycline, fluorosis, trauma, and root canal treatment alter dentin color permanently, and these cases respond slowly to bleaching or not at all.
Color predicts the outcome. Yellowish teeth lighten well, brown teeth lighten less, and grey or purple-stained teeth may not lighten at all. Crowns, veneers, and composite fillings never change shade, which creates a mismatch against whitened natural teeth.
A pharmacy kit cannot distinguish yellow from grey, surface stain from intrinsic, or healthy gum from early gum disease. A dentist can.
A dentist controls the concentration, the contact time, and the gum protection. Supervision converts bleaching from a guess into a managed procedure, because the clinician adjusts the approach when sensitivity appears rather than after the damage is done.
Treatment happens where the patient already is. Nobody crosses the city, parks, or sits in a waiting room before whitening begins.
Patients with dental anxiety often tolerate treatment better outside a clinical setting. Nobody shares the space, and nothing about the environment signals a hospital.
A single appointment replaces travel, waiting, and the return journey. Busy professionals, parents managing school runs, and elderly patients with limited mobility all recover hours rather than minutes.
The dentist examines the mouth before recommending anything. Stain type, gum condition, existing restorations, and sensitivity history all shape what is offered, so the plan reflects one patient rather than a product category.
Bedridden, mobility-restricted, and homebound patients are excluded from cosmetic dentistry in practice, not by rule. Home delivery reopens that access.
The dentist explains dietary restrictions and sensitivity management in person, at the point the patient needs them. DHA guidance notes that teeth continue absorbing colour for up to three days after bleaching, which makes the first 72 hours the period where instruction matters most.
This group achieves the most predictable improvement. Bleaching reaches a saturation point, however, after which further sessions produce no additional change. Teeth also dehydrate during treatment and appear lighter than the final rehydrated shade.
Daily consumers regain shade fastest and need top-up treatment sooner than occasional drinkers. Drinking through a straw reduces contact between pigmented liquids and the front teeth.
Outcome depends on behaviour during treatment. DHA advises that results stay limited unless the patient refrains from smoking, particularly across the bleaching period itself.
A single appointment often produces significant change, though optimum results may require multiple sittings. Book the assessment early enough to allow a second visit if the dentist recommends one.
Sequencing matters more than speed here. Whitening should precede any restorative or cosmetic work, since new crowns, veneers and bonding are then matched to the final tooth shade rather than the original one.
Clinic attendance, not clinical suitability, is what excludes this group from cosmetic dentistry. Home delivery removes that barrier.
Staining divides into extrinsic deposits on enamel and intrinsic discoloration within dentin. The distinction determines whether bleaching will work at all.
Coffee, black tea, red wine, and cola carry chromogens that bind to the pellicle layer, and tannins strengthen that bond. Berries, tomato sauce, soy sauce, and curry add food pigments. Tobacco and shisha deposit tar and nicotine as brown staining. Chlorhexidine mouthwash stains indirectly, while chromogenic bacteria in plaque produce green to brown marks. Poor oral hygiene worsens all of them, because plaque holds pigment against enamel.
Aging thins enamel and exposes the yellower dentin beneath. Tetracycline during tooth development and fluorosis from excess fluoride alter dentin permanently. Trauma, pulp necrosis, and root canal treatment darken individual teeth. Amalgam and intracanal medicaments leave grey iatrogenic staining.
Extrinsic stains respond to bleaching. Intrinsic discolouration responds poorly, which is why DHA contraindicates it and directs those cases toward veneers or composite restoration.
The dentist examines teeth and gums, checks for caries, recession, enamel cracks, and restorations, then records your baseline shade against a shade guide. Scaling and polishing is arranged first, where plaque would block even gel contact.
The dentist isolates soft tissue with a gingival barrier, then applies professional bleaching gel to clean, dried enamel. A desensitizing agent follows. Treatment splits across sittings when sensitivity develops.
Teeth absorb color for up to three days after bleaching. The dentist explains which foods to avoid, when tobacco can resume, how to manage sensitivity, and when restorations should be shade-matched.
Call Doctor Now holds a Dubai Health Authority facility license, verifiable through the DHA Sheryan medical directory. DHA restricts teeth whitening to licensed dental professionals and prohibits salons from providing it, so confirming a provider's license matters in this category specifically.
Dr. Ashya Dinesh holds a Bachelor of Dental Surgery from Mahe Institute of Dental Sciences and Hospital, affiliated with Pondicherry University, followed by a clinical internship and practice as a dental consultant across examinations, fillings, extractions, and prosthetic work.
The protocol follows DHA's Guidelines for Restorative Dentistry, covering contraindications, pre-treatment scaling, shade documentation, gingival protection and aftercare. Sterilised clinic-grade instruments are brought to your home.
Where intrinsic staining, active caries, or periodontal disease is found, the dentist declines whitening and directs you to the appropriate treatment instead.
Whitening is cosmetic and generally excluded from UAE health insurance, so the fee is confirmed before a dentist is dispatched. Call or WhatsApp +971 50 738 6186, answered within 60 seconds, 24/7 in English, Arabic, Urdu, and Hindi.

This is the second time I have used the Call Doctor Now service and I’m always consistently impressed. I live in another emirate, and so when I wasn’t feeling well on a work trip to Dubai I wasn’t sure where to go and didn’t really want to leave the hotel. The team from Call Doctor Now were with me super fast and helped me to feel better by the next morning, allowing me to return to my scheduled meetings. I was so impressed that on my next visit I scheduled a NAD drip and the team delivered the service in a friendly and professional way, even supporting me with follow up questions after the appointment. I would recommend them without hesitation, whether you are living in Dubai or just visiting. Fantastic company!Posted on Google![]()

Needed a full blood panel done but didn't have time to sit in a lab waiting room. Booked Call Doctor Now since they work with a DHA-licensed laboratory in Dubai. The nurse came to my place in Dubai Marina, took the samples quickly, and the reports came through within 24 hours. Clean, professional, and properly accredited. Way easier than going to a clinic. Will definitely use them again.Posted on Google![]()

After my hip replacement surgery I couldn't move around much and going to the clinic was impossible. Called Call Doctor Now for post surgical care Dubai and they came the same day. The nurse was patient, professional, and the physiotherapist also started home sessions soon after. Honestly a complete recovery package, will recommend to anyone.
Safety depends on control rather than concentration. Professional bleaching at measured exposure stays within documented margins, while unregulated products remove every control that matters.
The margins are wide when exposure is controlled. DHA records that 10% carbamide peroxide delivers around 3.5 micrograms of peroxide to the pulp after fifteen minutes, against the 50,000 micrograms needed to inhibit pulp enzyme activity. Histological studies show minor superficial pulp inflammation, matching the sensitivity patients report, and little morphological change to enamel.
DIY methods discard those controls. Lemon juice and vinegar erode enamel through acid attack. Charcoal and baking soda abrade without bleaching. Unregulated online kits declare no peroxide concentration, so exposure becomes unknowable.
Two risks are easy to miss. Concurrent tobacco or alcohol use can worsen peroxide’s toxic effect on oral tissue, and patients on photosensitive medication should avoid light-accelerated whitening entirely.
A DHA-licensed dentist assesses your teeth at home, confirms whether whitening suits your stain type, and treats you the same visit when it does. Suitability and price are confirmed before anyone is dispatched.
