Fever, sweating and poor oral intake let fluid losses outpace what you drink. Vomiting also removes sodium and potassium, which can cause an electrolyte imbalance. Early signs include thirst, dry mouth, dark urine, less frequent urination and dizziness. Oral rehydration solutions often correct mild dehydration.

Isotonic fluids, such as 0.9% sodium chloride, carry roughly the same salt concentration as blood plasma. They replace water along with sodium and chloride electrolytes. Your clinician sets the fluid volume according to your hydration status, weight, heart health and kidney function.
Vitamin C and B-complex vitamins are optional additions, not core treatments. Neither has been shown to cure influenza or reliably shorten a cold once symptoms start. High-dose vitamin C needs caution in G6PD deficiency, an inherited enzyme condition seen across the Gulf region. If your plan includes vitamins, you will see each name and dose in advance.
Medicines such as paracetamol for fever or an antiemetic for vomiting are not added automatically. A doctor must confirm a medical indication and prescribe each one.

A registered nurse confirms your identity, follows infection prevention steps and checks your vital signs. After you give medical consent, the nurse starts the infusion through a cannula in your hand or forearm and keeps you under observation. If a drip is unsuitable, we suggest oral rehydration or further medical care.
The nurse removes the cannula, watches for adverse reactions and advises you on oral hydration, rest and warning signs.

This service is designed for adults. Children with cold or flu symptoms should first see a paediatrician, who can visit your home.
Heart failure, other heart conditions, reduced kidney function and fluid restrictions need particular care. In these cases, extra fluid can collect in the lungs or legs, a problem called fluid overload. Your clinician may then choose a smaller volume, a slower infusion rate or another treatment.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding affect which vitamins and medicines are safe to add. For patient safety, your allergy assessment covers past reactions to medicines, vitamins, adhesive dressings or IV treatments. Blood thinners can also increase bruising at the cannula site. You can still decline after hearing the risks, because informed consent includes the right to refuse.
